There is no easy fix in natural healing. The truth is, it is likely going to take most people several months to a year to experience significant healing results. With that in mind, there are certain steps that can be taken in order to speed up this process and ensure that you are healing as quickly and efficiently as possible.
So, how do you heal psoriasis, eczema, and dermatitis fast? Although natural skin healing is generally a slow and nuanced process, many people are able to speed up this process by incorporating these 7 practices into their healing regimen: 1. Start fasting 2. Drink fresh vegetable juice 3. Follow a detox diet 4. Get some sun 5.exercise 6. Don’t obsess over your skin 7. Don’t cheat
If you have read my other blog posts or follow my Instagram account, you will find that this article is basically just a reiteration of the healthy habits that I have been promoting since the beginning. If you want to heal fast, you must learn how to incorporate these habits into your life and stay true to the process. The speed with which you will be able to heal your skin is directly tied to your ability to develop a powerful healing regimen and transition into sustainable lifestyle.
Start fasting
There is no more powerful natural healing tool than fasting. The detoxification and cellular regeneration benefits that fasting is capable of inducing are exactly what you need if you want to heal your skin and heal it fast. This may seem daunting for many people. My suggestion would be to research the topic as much as much as possible so that you gain an understanding of 1. The benefits of fasting 2. How to fast effectively and properly.
When I had breakouts in the past, I would almost always start my healing regimen off with some sort of fast and then slowly transition into my “detox diet” and then into my long term every day diet. Following this formula is what inspired me to create an ultimate skin healing protocol that focuses on using a 3 phase formula to promote the healing process. You can also learn to unlock the benefits of fasting on a consistent basis by learning how to incorporate intermittent fasting into your life. If you are not familiar with this concept that is rapidly growing in popularity, it basically means that you schedule your meals to fit within a designated time window. For example: Eating your meals between the hours of 12 pm and 8 pm and then fasting for 16 hours outside of that time window.
Drink fresh vegetable juice
Fresh vegetable juice is the most medicinal food that I have ever consumed. I feel like I repeat this phrase over and over again, but it’s the truth. In my experience, there is no food that is more effective in terms of healing the gut and initiating the detoxification process. Is it absolutely necessary? Maybe not, but it can prove to be an extremely powerful tool for anyone who takes the time to incorporate it into their lifestyle.
Although I do believe that buying your own organic produce, juicing it yourself, and consuming it fresh is the best way to do it, it is becoming more and more common for grocery stores to stock bottled cold pressed juices on their shelves. This can also be an effective and convenient option
Another thing to consider here is to incorporate some juice fasting into your healing regimen. If I ever do a water fast, I will typically follow it up with a juice fast as I begin to ease myself back into my typical way of eating. The thing I like about juice fasting is that it provides you with many of the same benefits of a water fast but it also has a nourishing element to it. When you drink a juice, your body is receiving a concentrated dose of the vital micronutrients that vegetables contain. This can do wonders for your digestion and really activate the healing systems within your body.
Start with an “extreme” healing diet
There are two general dietary approaches that have proven to be extremely beneficial for people who are trying to heal skin disease. These two approaches are high fat/low carb and high carb/low fat. What this means is that when starting your skin healing regimen, you need to determine whether you want to build a diet based on fat consumption or carbohydrate consumption.
The reason why you don’t want your diet to be high in carbs and fats at the same time (even with all healthy whole foods) is because this combination mimics a typical western diet in a sense and can cause digestive issues for people with compromised gut health. Although I do believe that both carbs and fats can be a part of a long term healthy diet, it is important that you favor one macronutrient or the other.
So, say you decide you want to use a fat based approach to heal your skin. Does this mean that you should completely eliminate carbs and never consume them again? No. As time goes and you start developing your long term diet approach, you may find that you benefit from including some carbs. You just have to be mindful of your macronutrient ratios and make sure to keep your carbohydrate intake to under 20-25% of your total caloric intake.
With that in mind, if you want to really dig into the healing process and accelerate your progress, it may be beneficial for you to start with an “extreme” version of one of these two approaches. What I mean by extreme is to put a very strict limit on either the consumption of carbs or fats. So, if you are going fat based, you would hold your carbs to under 5% of your caloric intake and if you are going carb based, you would hold your fasts to under 5% of your caloric intake. Taking such an approach can be very beneficial in terms of easing the labor that your digestive system must perform, which will result in improved digestion and accelerated healing.
Get some sun
Sunlight is something that I don’t touch on nearly enough. Although I do believe that nutrition is the most important natural healing factor in most cases, the health benefits that are tied to sunlight exposure are extremely powerful and irreplaceable.
Vitamin d deficiency is very common in today’s society, especially in those with autoimmune issues. By getting outside and exposing yourself to the sun, you are allowing yourself to absorb vitamin d in its most potent form. While some people may benefit from taking a vitamin d supplement to counteract their deficiency, there is no doubt that this is not the most natural or efficient way to incorporate vitamin d.
Although you certainly don’t want to get burnt, don’t be afraid of getting in the dsun. I think that many people have been led to believe that getting some sun is somehow a bad thing and that they should avoid it as much as possible. Yes, there is such thing as too much sun. But make sure you realize that getting a good amount of sunlight is one of the most beneficial things you can do for your health.
Who doesn’t feel better when they have some sunshine in their life? I personally notice a significant increase in my overall health during the summer months as opposed to winter. Turn off the TV and spend some time outside whenever you have the chance. We are not meant to be locked inside of our homes as often as we are. We belong outdoors and our health is directly tied to the nature around us.
Exercise
Everyone is somewhat aware of the health benefits of exercise. You are going to have a difficult time finding anyone who disagrees with the fact that consistent exercise is a major key in sustaining good health. It is no different in the case of skin healing.
By making a consistent exercise regimen a staple in your healing journey, you are greatly increasing the rate at which your body will be able to detoxify and replenish itself. While I do believe that the benefits that you receive from exercise will be a direct result of how hard you work and how dedicated you are, you don’t need to spend hours in the gym everyday to make it work for you.
Although I am a strong proponent of intense exercise, something as simple as taking a walk or a light jog for a half hour a few days a week can have a big impact on accelerating detoxification which will in turn accelerate healing. Determine your workout schedule and stick to it. Natural healing isn’t so much about following a formula as it is about building the right habits and holding yourself accountable. If you are not a determined person, you will not heal. It’s that simple.
Don’t obsess over your skin
This is a mistake that I made often on my healing journey. Instead of just having faith in what I was doing and going on with my life, I wasted a lot of time watching paint dry so to speak. While studying your skin is an inevitable part of the healing process. You don’t want to obsess over it and keep on checking up on your skin countless times throughout the day.
The fact of the matter is, this kind of obsession will only lead to frustration and will in turn attract negative energy. You almost want to convince yourself that you have already healed yourself and all that is left to do now is stick to your regimen and ride out the process. Of course, developing this kind of confidence is easier said than done. With that said, reaching this space of mental stability is one of the most powerful things you can accomplish within the healing process.
You could do everything right in terms of developing the right nutrition practices, but if you are unable to stay strong mentally you are going to have a tough time getting the results that you want. The real key to natural healing isn’t improving your diet. It’s improving your existence. This is where you begin the process of becoming the person you dreamt about becoming as a child.
Don’t cheat
My last tip here is to avoid cheating at all costs. Can some people get away with having a cheat meal here and there and still experience some good healing results? Yes, maybe. With that said, you really shouldn’t want to cheat if you are serious about healing your skin and getting your overall health back on track.
Natural healing isn’t about following a nutritious diet for a period of time just so you can revert back to old habits. It’s about completely changing your perspective on food and the purpose that it serves. Those who have a cheat meal every week or every couple weeks are going to have a hard time sustaining their success if they even have any at all. There is nothing that gets in the way of healing more than cheating as it steers you away from the basic principles of behavioral change.
Instead of cheating with unhealthy foods, try finding ways to “cheat” with whole foods. You can read some more about how to navigate around cheating in my “Natural Skin Healing: Are Cheat Meals Holding You Back?” blog post.
Conclusion
At the end of the day, it is important to understand that there is no “fast” way to heal skin disease. As I said, your healing with derive from a total change of perspective and an adherence to your improved nutrition and lifestyle practices. With that in mind, there are certainly things you can do to induce healing and speed up the recovery process. By taking the information in this post and applying it to your lifestyle, I am confident that you will find success on your healing journey. This is a matter of determination. You are in control of your own fate… Act accordingly.
